With most large yachts sold in the United States being manufactured overseas, a relatively novel part of the marine transport industry is port operations, where brand new vessels are offloaded directly from a freighter right on to the transport truck. Few can make this go as smoothly as the Hurricane team. Working in a port is extremely challenging, from the required paperwork to security clearances, fluid loading schedules, different foreign languages, and the dangerous loading process itself. If a mistake is made it can be costly with delays in transport, adding billable costs to the customer or delays in receiving their new boat, increasing floor plan time. Over the years, our team has gained the knowledge, experience, and has shown the ability to “change on the fly” that allows us to shine in this segment.

When we arrive at a port, every member of our team has the required TWIC card with security clearance to work inside a Federally controlled area. We have the proper paperwork required to pick up the vessel, including all oversize permits, and our equipment is set up and ready to load the vessel we are tasked with transporting. We pride ourselves in limiting the amount of time that we tie up a crane, a ship and its crew.
